The Surly Midnight Special Frameset 650b/700c Steel Hi-Viz Black 58cm is built for endurance riders who want long-ride comfort without sacrificing speed. With a 100% Surly Chromoly main triangle that’s double-butted, the frame balances torsional stiffness for confident climbing with compliance over rough pavement, pot-holes, and occasional gravel.
Versatility for 650b and 700c Wheels
Designed around a rigid steel fork and 1-1/8" threadless Chromoly steerer, this frameset accommodates a wide tire range for year-round riding. Tire clearance is generous: up to 27.5 x 2.35" without fenders, 700c x 42mm without fenders, and with fenders up to 650b x 50mm or 700c x 38mm. Flat-Mount disc brakes provide reliable stopping power in all weather.
Practical Build Details
Three water-bottle mounts, rack and fender compatibility, and 44mm head tube keep options open for touring or daily commuting. Axles are modern 12mm thru x 100/142mm, ready for rigid rides with precise alignment. Color is black with hi-visibility intent for urban grinds.
